SUMMARY:Origins of Joy and Sorrow: A Study on Genesis
DESCRIPTION:During this six-week class will walk carefully through these early chapters of Genesis to develop a biblical theology of creation and humanity. Together we will explore themes that remain strikingly contemporary: vocation and work\, stewardship of the world\, the nature of temptation\, the roots of envy and violence\, the experience of shame\, and the persistence of grace even in the midst of judgment. Ultimately we will see the gospel more clearly as the intersection of sorrow and joy that produces salvation for thew world. \nAlong the way\, we will practice two formative Christian disciplines that arise naturally from Genesis itself. First\, we will learn to lament honestly: to face the sorrow and devastation of sin without denial or despair.
