Equip to Lead
Equipping servant leaders for the work of ministry
You’ve probably felt it—that quiet sense that you’re called for more. Not more hustle or hurry, but more depth. More purpose. More of Jesus shaping every part of your life. More using your gifts to lead and serve others. This cohort is for disciples who want to lean into that calling. It’s about becoming the kind of leader who doesn’t just lead for a season, but who grows for a lifetime and helps others do the same. Together, we’ll learn to know the gospel deeply, live it honestly, and speak it with love—in our church, our vocations, and our city.
Program Overview
Equip to Lead is a one-year, cohort-based, formation program seeking to raise up the next wave of servant leaders in our church.
What is the Format?
The program will consist of weekly meetings, group-led discussions, readings, projects, and personal reflection. It will feel more like a collaborative seminar than a class (a fuller breakdown).
We will work through 3 eleven-week modules:
- Biblical Theology (Sep-Nov): Grow in understanding and interpreting the Bible as one narrative of God’s mission to redeem and restore all things.
- Practical Theology (Jan-Mar): Engage foundational questions: How do we live our theology? What are the implications of the gospel for everyday life?
- Personal Formation & Leadership (May-July): Complete a Capstone project focused on spiritual formation, career, calling, gifting, and leadership.
When & Where?
The program will start the second week of September and run through the end of July. There will be two separate cohorts: one on Sunday nights (6:30-8:00pm) and one on Thursday mornings (6:30-8:00am), both meeting at the Providence office.
Who Is This For?
How do you know if this is something you should consider? Here are some indicators that this program might be for you:
- Do you want to grow in theological and spiritual formation?
- Do you want to grow in your ability to minister to others?
- Are you willing to be stretched beyond your comfort zones?
- Do you see yourself leading in some capacity at Providence?
Given the purpose and commitment level of the group, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- You are faithfully active in your GC. This program is not a substitute for GC, but could replace your D-Group if you need to make space.
- People in our church can commend your character and heart to serve others.
- You have time and capacity to participate in this cohort. We ask that you miss no more than 1 meeting per module, and complete all reading assignments and projects (roughly 2 hours/wk). Email Brad with any questions.
