Summer Electives

We believe that the gospel changes everything about us: it transforms our hearts, it renews our minds, and it instructs all that we do. This summer at Providence we are once again offering 3 equipping opportunities—we call them “Summer Electives.” All classes will be in person this year.

Please email Lucy if you have any questions about one of these electives. If the cost is prohibitive for you, please let us know. Everything kicks off in early June, so read more about each elective below and sign up over at the registration page.

SHARING THE GOSPEL
God has called the church to be ambassadors for Christ, presenting his message of reconciliation through us (2 Cor. 5:19-20). As ambassadors, it’s important that we present the message clearly (Col 4:3-6) and compellingly (1 Pet. 3:14-16).

Many of us feel unprepared for this calling. This course is designed to practically equip you with the WHAT, WHY, and HOW of evangelism. Whether you struggle with not knowing what to say, feeling discouraged or afraid, or not knowing how to start the conversation, the goal of this course is to help you share the faith more and do so more effectively.

Leader:
Chelsea & John Scharbach
When: Sundays, 2:00-3:30PM at University Avenue
Length: 6 weeks (June 12-July 24, minus July 3)
Cost: $20 / Capacity: 40 people

THE JOY OF GENEROSITY
Learning to live and give like Jesus changes everything, from the inside out—it leads to a life of joy! And this life of joyful generosity is for all Christians, no matter our socio-economic status.

This 4-week class (based on content from Generous Giving) will utilize videos, readings, and group discussions to help you better understand and live into Jesus’ message of generosity. There will also be a few practical tools to help you along the way.

Leader:
Jamie & Solomon Wang
When: Thursdays, 7:30-9:00pm at the Church Office
Length: 4 weeks (June 9-30)
Cost: $20 / Capacity: 30 people

TECH-WISE LIVING
Technology is a wonderful gift that benefits us in so many ways. However, it also creates unique challenges for our well-being and for our walk with God. Internet, smartphones, on-demand streaming, social media, and video games constantly vie for our attention. How can we use technology well? This five-week course is aimed at helping equip you to put technology in its rightful place, so that it can help you flourish.

When: Sundays, 6:15-7:45pm at the Church Office
Length: 5 weeks (June 5-July 10, minus July 3)
